About Chuck Hoskin
A Rural Upbringing
Chuck's roots in the
district run deep. He was born
in Claremore and raised in
rural Craig County.
Chuck's rural and
small town upbringing taught him to value
his family, faith
and community and to honor hard work.
Service to His
Country
After graduating from Vinita
High School, Chuck
enlisted in the US
Navy. Chuck volunteered for military
service at a a time
when it was not the most popular thing to
do do, b because he
believed that it was the right thing to do.
After his Navy service, Chuck
entered the trade of his
father and brother,
joining Iron Workers Local 584.
A Man who believes
in hard work for a better tomorrow
After becoming a Journeyman
Ironworker, Chuck decided to go to college to make a better life for his
young family. Chuck worked his way through college, first as an Ironworker
and later as a Letter Carrier. Chuck earned his Associate's degree from NEO
A&M (Miami) and his Bachelor's degree in Education from NSU (Tahlequah).
Chuck also ran a small construction business, earning money and creating
good-paying jobs in his community.
A dedicated educator
and administrator
After graduating college,
Chuck became a teacher and coach in Vinita Public Schools. Chuck quickly
earned a reputation as a hard working, dedicated teacher. Later in his
teaching career, Chuck returned to college to earn his Master's Degree in
Education Administration and became a school administrator. Chuck has over
two decades of experience as a classroom teacher and school administrator.
He knows what it takes to teach kids and how to run a public school in the
best interests of our whole community.
An Experienced,
tested and proven leader
Chuck believes in public
service. That's why he made time in his life to be a citizen legislator.
Elected to the Cherokee Tribal Council in 1995, 1999 and 2003, Chuck, the
only candidate in the District 6 race with legislative experience, has
been representing District 6 communities since 1995. Chuck's service to the
district has brought over $2 million in road improvements, a new health
clinic and hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding for our public
schools.
A Family Man who is
Active in His Community
Chuck's greatest
accomplishment was helping raise two wonderful children, Amy and Charles,
Jr. Chuck believed so much in his community that, no matter where his
military service, school, or work took him, he always called Vinita "home"
for him and his family. Chuck remains active in his community, including
his membership in the First United Methodist Church, American Legion and the
Veteran's of Foreign Wars (VFW).
